This was my most complicated animated project up to this point, and I learned a lot about NPR animation and blending it with photorealism through this. The idea itself was appealing enough as an extension of my "Sketchasaur" series. The idea was always to emulate sketches from Renaissance-era paleontology journals, but I latched on to the idea of those almost breaking out to explore the lab where they're being studied. In that way, this became a sort of proof-of-concept to see if and how that would work in future projects.
